I was running on a 64-bit machine; other projects in the solution were set to 64-bit. I have tried to open my project as solution and it resolved my problem. I know it makes no sense.

Later I made default.aspx as start page, built the solution and uploaded deafult.aspx, default.aspx.vb and bin folder (overwrite bin folder) Now it works fine.
