Of course the app was targeting framework 4.5, so changed App pool to 4.0 from default app pool, which was there earlier. This seems to be because the MyNamespace namespace (defined in the code behind file Global.asax.cs) is not seen by the compiler in the Global.asax file (does not show in R# intellisence..). and it worked! All rights reserved. Parser Error Could Not Load Type Inherits Included the web application in the build by ticking the 'Build' check-box.
